Jill B. Cordle Named Controller at Southern Research Institute

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (May 13, 2005) – Southern Research Institute today announced that Jill B. Cordle has been named controller, effective immediately.

"Jill has contributed greatly to the professional competency of the accounting function and the quality of service we’re providing to our internal customers," said David A. Rutledge, chief financial officer. “We’re pleased to have her take on these new responsibilities.”

Cordle came to Southern Research in 1998 as supervisor of contract accounting, and was named assistant controller in 1999. Prior to joining Southern Research, Cordle was employed by Intergraph Corporation in Huntsville for 15 years, and Southern Bankers in Knoxville, Tenn. She fills the position previously held by Rutledge, who was named chief financial officer in January.

As assistant controller, Cordle helped to improve financial policies and controls at Southern Research. In 2003, Southern Research implemented a software conversion from its accounting package to an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system; Cordle served on the ERP selection and implementation team, ensuring the conversion of project data and general ledger balances. She also streamlined the publishing of monthly financial statements, cutting the work days required to do so in half.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where she graduated cum laude. She is a member of The University of Alabama National Alumni Association and The University of Alabama Commerce Executives Society.
