The Southern Research bacteriology group provides a comprehensive range of services to facilitate antimicrobial drug discovery either at the basic research or early development phases. The scientific focus of our bacteriology program is on public health and biodefense. As such, we offer extensive antibacterial testing capabilities for nosocomial- and community-acquired pathogens including MRSA, C. difficile, A. baumannii, and multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). In addition, we provide antibacterial testing for emerging pathogens and select biothreat agents, including B. anthracis, Y. pestis, and F. tularensis. Southern Research also maintains robust basic research initiatives in bacteriology led by accomplished scientists focused on advancing groundbreaking discoveries in the field. Testing of BSL-2 and BSL-3 pathogens is provided for both government and commercial clients and can be conducted in compliance with the FDA Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations.
