Greenhouse Gas Technology
Center Website
The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Technology Center, which began operations in 1997, locates promising GHG mitigation and monitoring technologies, subjects them to independent third-party performance testing, and provides performance results to the public free of charge. Environmental, operational, economic, and other performance factors are verified on the technologies verified.
The GHG Center operates under the U.S. EPA's Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Program. It evaluates technologies applicable to the economy's industrial, commercial, and residential sectors. Over 30 different technologies have been or are in the process of being verified. Most are new technologies that offer great promise but which need independent confirmation of their performance to convince hesitant customers. The GHG Center, its stakeholders, and the ETV program focus on any promising technology that can reduce greenhouse gases (or other pollutants), but primarily on those that can be proven to function effectively in today's commercial marketplace. Examples of technologies gaining current GHG Center attention appear in the following list.
Verifications occur in laboratory or field settings, and can be funded through cost sharing arrangements established between technology vendors, the ETV program, and other contributing organizations. Peer-reviewed test plans, reports, and verifications statements are available free of charge through the GHG Center's Internet site at www.sri-rtp.com (or by clicking on the GHG Center logo above). Interested parties may also apply for verification testing at the GHG Center site.
