Greenhouse Gas Mitigation

Greenhouse Gas Mitigation

Due to mounting regulatory requirements from the EPA and other entities, the reduction and accurate reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions has become increasingly important for industrial facilities and agencies across the United States. Southern Research has extensive expertise in developing and evaluating innovative GHG mitigation and monitoring technologies in addition to developing consistent, complete, and accurate greenhouse gas emissions inventories for large multi-facility institutions and agencies.

Since 1997, the Southern Research Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Technology Verification Center has played an integral role in our GHG mitigation technology initiatives. Located in Research Triangle Park, NC, this innovative Center is a public/private partnership between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Southern Research. The GHG Center operates under the U.S. EPA's Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Program and provides independent performance testing of technologies that produce, mitigate, monitor, or sequester greenhouse gas emissions. While much of our work has focused on CO2 and methane, Southern Research has also performed evaluations of emissions sources and reduction solution technologies for other primary GHGs, including N20, HFCs, and SF6 as well as other potential emissions impacting climate change, such as black carbon.

We offer the following diverse capabilities in greenhouse gas mitigation:
