New PC-based Video Tracker

The Systems Development Department of Southern Research now offers a video tracking solution that doesn't require specialized hardware. The PC Tracker runs on Windows-based PCs and has all of the functionality of our past trackers.

Video is processed based on two types of algorithms: centroid and correlation. The PC Tracker displays tracker feedback using high resolution graphics that are user-customizable in color and opacity.

The popularity of Windows-based PCs allows the PC Tracker to accept a wide variety of video inputs. Among the interfaces supported are Firewire, USB, and Ethernet cameras.

Special PC Tracker configurations are able to record video, with or without graphic overlays and audio. A wide variety of codecs are supported to allow flexibility in recorded video bit-rate. Also supported is the ability to render to any Windows-supported video renderer, so customers can send video to other systems as well.

The architecture of the application is built so that it can be easily customized for a customer's specific needs, be it interfacing with other systems, displaying customized graphic overlays, all while maintaining the same video tracking performance.
