Noise and Vibration

Noise & Vibration analysis at Southern Research

Noise and vibration analysis and control are hot-button issues in today's workplace. Southern Research's Engineering Solutions Group has assembled a team of analysts and technicians equipped to handle every aspect of this dynamic specialty, such as:

Vibration
  • Mechanical vibration in structures and foundations
  • Radial and torsional vibration sensing and analysis in machinery
  • Design and implementation of remote sensing, signal processing and telemetry systems
  • Fatigue and resonance studies
  • Impact excited vibration testing
  • Aerodynamic-induced vibration analysis and correction
  • Vibration mode shape analysis and modification
  • Automotive vibration - diagnosis and correction of defects
  • Durability analysis
  • Design of vibration isolating structures
Noise
  • Noise source analysis and identification
  • Noise based automotive diagnostics
  • Noise attenuation and control
  • Pure-tone noise identification and correction
  • Design of noise barriers and noise canceling devices
  • Determination of sound absorption coefficient

The Engineering Solutions Group has specialized resources to measure and report on unusual types of vibratory motion. We can also provide customized hardware and software for vibration and/or noise monitoring. Additionally, the group is equipped with analytical tools including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) that can predict the response of machinery and equipment to modification and process changes. Please contact the Engineering Solutions Group to discuss how this type of analysis can be applied to your product, process, or situation.
