The Engineering Solutions Group at Southern Research develops custom software to address specific problems. Below are samples of two of these applications. Contact us for the expanded versions of these applications or for a custom software application for your needs.
This application calculates the density -- weight (lb) per unit volume (ft^3) -- of a dry or moist gas at any reasonable pressure, elevation and humidity. Gas density is typically used to determine mass flow rate for gas flowing at a certain volume or velocity.

The application calculates the natural frequency for a shaft of constant diameter with a rotor suspended between two bearings. Natural and resonant frequencies are terms that mean the same thing – the frequency at which a structure vibrates when struck. Operation at this frequency must be avoided because vibration is amplified under this condition.
