From the basic noise recording to solving tough NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) engineering problems, Southern Research offers a complete line of engineering services in our 85,000 square foot Engineering Research Center in Birmingham, Alabama. This state-of-the-art facility is staffed with approximately 75 degreed engineers and scientists. Our capabilities become even more diverse through our collaborations with universities and strategic partners.

We recently set up a full NVH lab in a separate building with brand new hemi-anechoic chamber and state-of-the-art signal analyzer hardware/software. Our customer base includes automotive , tier supplier, airline, aerospace, DOD, paper mills, antenna factories, musical instruments makers and sport equipment manufactures.

Our scope of services include, but are not limited to:

  • Standard Sound and Vibration testing
  • Vibration test under temperature cycle
  • Customer designed NVH testing
  • Rotating machinery preventive maintenance
  • End-of-line tester sensor integration
  • NVH enclosure design and implementation
  • Buzz, Squeak and Rattle diagnosis
  • Warranty return data mining

We have staff with extensive NVH, Sound Quality training, and Shainin problem solving qualifications. INCE (Institute of Noise Control Engineering) has recently awarded Member status.
