Southern Research has a Precision X-ray Inc., X-RAD 320 x-ray irradiator, fully calibrated, located in our in vivo laboratories where we conduct combination xenograft studies with human tumor models.

Our scientists have completed and published a radiosensitization study with clofarabine in the DLD-1 colon xenograft model. (View article.) And, we have evaluated the radiosensitizing potential of clofarabine in NCI-H460 lung, SR475HN head and neck, SF-295 glioblastoma, DU-145 prostate, PANC-1 pancreatic, and HCT-116 colon tumor models. In addition, we have established a radiation-induced mucositis model in rats. The x-ray irradiator is also available for in vitro survival assays using the clonogenic survival assay.
